Which rooms actually face the river, and which ones matter

Every room in the tower advertises a view, but 'city view' and 'river view' describe different holidays. One looks at a courthouse rooftop; the other watches ferries cross under the bridge. The floor map decides which you get.

We keep that map. This is the honest version of what each category and orientation delivers.

The orientations, translated

The tower runs roughly north-south along the river. 'River view' rooms face east over the water toward the bridge. 'City view' rooms face west over the CBD grid, good sunsets, no water. Corner rooms face both and cost the premium for it. Between floors 12 and 17, river rooms sit above the podium height where the view clears the trees; below that, 'river glimpse' is the honest label.

What the premium buys

Premier Corner Suites are the honest upgrade: two walls of glass, the riverbend where the water curves toward the bridge, and a lounge large enough that the view becomes the room's furniture. The penthouse takes the same view and adds altitude. Deluxe River Kings on floors 18 to 23 deliver 80% of the postcard for half the premium.

How to get the view you want

  • Ask for east-facing, floor 18 or above, by name
  • Book weekends ten days out; river rooms sell first
  • Anniversaries get priority for corner upgrades
  • Floors 18–19 are quiet floors; the view is identical to 20–23
  • The 6.20 am sunrise in summer is the room's best feature

The city view defence

City-facing rooms are not the consolation prize. The western aspect catches the sunset, the CBD grid lights up properly after dark, and the rooms run slightly larger per dollar. For trips where the room is for sleeping and the days are out, save the difference.

Tell the desk which view matters and why. 'Watching the ferries with morning coffee' and 'somewhere quiet to crash' are different bookings and get different floors.

Quick Answers

Partially from higher floors and angled windows, but 'city view' honestly means the CBD. For a guaranteed water view, book the river category.

Floors 20–23 give the cleanest riverbend angle. Above that the view widens but the detail shrinks; it is preference, not better.
